Welcome to Smart Fit Horse

A clear, structured way to understand your horse's body and movement.

Smart Fit Horse is designed to help you slow down, look closer, and truly understand how your horse feels and moves. When you have that information, you can tailor training to your horse's individual needs — helping you make progress faster, with less guesswork.

1

Hands-On Body Assessment

Start with a thorough, hands-on evaluation.

As you move your hands over your horse, notice areas where they react to touch, ear pinning, kicking up, tension or avoidance, areas they clearly enjoy, changes in coat texture, and muscles that feel tight, guarded, or overly loose. Using the 1–10 Score Chart: 1 = Concerning · 10 = Optimal. Score each area to create a clear, objective picture of how your horse is feeling today. Tip: This same chart can be used during grooming to log sensitive or itchy spots that show up outside of training sessions.
2

Mobility Checklist

Next, assess how your horse is moving.

The Mobility Checklist walks you through evaluating movement in all major areas of the body across the three planes of motion: Forward & Backward, Side to Side, and Rotational. Score each movement to identify tight or restricted areas, balance challenges, excessively flexible (but weak) areas, and compensations. This step gives you a functional view of what's happening beneath the surface.
3

Apply What You've Learned

You can stop here and immediately use your findings.

Identify the 2–3 lowest scored areas. Choose exercises that directly target those weaknesses. Build your next training session around those needs. No guessing. No random exercises. Just targeted work.
4

Log Your Training Session

Track how your horse responds.

Log your training session to monitor whether the exercises you chose are improving the previously low-scored areas. Over time, this creates measurable progress and a clear history to reference.
5

Go Deeper with the Basic Skills Chart

Optional: Refine things even further.

This helps you evaluate how your horse responds to cues, how they organize their body under those cues, and whether movement issues are physical, balance-related, or skill-based. This deeper layer allows you to fine-tune your sessions so you're always working on what your horse needs most.

The Goal

ClarityConfidenceProgress

When you consistently assess, score, and track, you remove emotion and replace it with data. That's when training becomes more effective — and your horse becomes stronger, more balanced, and more comfortable in their body.

Welcome to a smarter way to train.
